MKTG 3347 week 10- Social Listening

Image
Regardless of what platform you're using, it is essential to be able to create a genuine connection with your audience. Understanding their needs and wants is an important aspect of social listening. More specifically, social listening refers to analyzing the conversations and trends revolving around your brand and industry to make wiser marketing decisions in the future.  Social listening not only helps you understand why, but also where and how these conversations are happening to determine what people are thinking regarding your brand. This information is beneficial in essentially supplying the brand with more specific insight and data needed to succeed. Brand health, industry insights, competitive analysis, campaign analysis, and event monitoring are a few opportunities social listening offers. Learning how your audience feels regarding each of these categories can help pave a path towards success for any brand.

MKTG 3345 week 9- Referral Spam

Image
A shady tactic spammers use to draw attention and traffic to their own sites through your analytics account is known as referral spam. This type of spam is unique in that it is usually only visible through the web analytics dashboard to the website administrator. Referral spam is not only annoying, but it can actually mess up your analytics data. For a small site, the damage can be more significant as the spam referral traffic can easily suffocate legitimate traffic making marketing analysis more difficult. The two types of referrer spambots include:         *Crawler Referrer Spam         *Ghost Spam Ultimately, the goal is to prevent as much spam as possible from all angles. While preventing all spam is nearly impossible, taking the necessary steps/precautions to eliminate the likelihood of different spam can help protect yourself and your site to avoid an inaccurate analytics report.

MKTG 3347 week 9-Facebook Insights

Image
This week for class, I became an administrator for the Facebook page "These Songs of Freedom" to get a better understanding of the demographic that views and likes the page. More specifically, I will be analyzing the Facebook insights to determine the ages and countries these viewers are from. This information can help me better analyze and track user interaction to see who specifically is being reached and what affect this is having on my page. To find this information, I will navigate to the left column and click on the people tab. Once on this page, I can see specific demographics regarding my fans, my followers and people reached. The first half of the page tells me how many of my followers are women and how many are men. This page has 47% female followers and 53% male followers. This information is also categorized by age for each gender. The largest percentage of followers, both male and female, consist of the 25-34 age group. The second half of the page shows wh...

MKTG 3345 week 8-Search Traffic

Image
This week I analyzed the amount of organic traffic on a Google Analytics account. Organic traffic refers to when someone searches for a particular keyword which shows up as an "unpaid result" on a Google page. This goes hand in hand with search engine optimization as this is the process of maximizing the amount of viewers by ensuring that the site appears high on the list of search results. Organic search traffic gives you a competitive edge so understating and utilizing high-value keywords is crucial. CASA's page showed that 77.8 % of traffic was organic and 22.2% was direct. This means that the majority of people who viewed this page did so by searching specific keywords. Everyone wants their target audience to be able to find them through the internet so the percentage of organic traffic one receives is very important.

MKTG 3347 week 8- Social Media Report

Image
This week, I took a closer look at the Facebook page I made a few weeks ago. Once on my business page, I can view a variety of metrics by clicking on the "insights" tab at the top of the page. This tab will show me information like page views, page likes, page reach, post engagement etc.. The Actions on Page button separates viewers by gender, age, country, city and device. With these tools there is a significant amount of data you can acquire regarding those viewing your page. Posting content and watching how the metrics change based on the information you share would be interesting to analyze moving forward. Currently, I do not have enough data to analyze these metrics in more detail as I have not posted on the page for some time. However, adjusting the date range to January has given me more detail regarding the amount of post likes and reach. Once the company takes off, I will utilize these tools to see how our content is being viewed by those on Facebook. It will b...

MKTG 3347 week 7-Hootsuite

Image
This week for class, I joined the Hootsuite Student Program. Hootsuite is referred to as a "Social Media Management System". It is beneficial to use this program to compose, schedule, and post social media messages, and listen to relevant social media conversations. Overall, Hootsuite is designed to make social media marketing easier and more efficient for businesses and individual users alike. To get a better understanding of the system, I started by opening lesson 1 and watching all the  videos. The lessons are rather short but contain a lot of relevant information a new user may need to know to get started. The videos also do a great job at explaining each step and navigating through the program. After completing all the lessons, the user can take a Hootsuite Certification Exam. If you successfully pass this exam, you will be added to the Certified Professionals Directory and you can add your accomplishment to Linkedin. For someone in social media marketing, this wi...

MKTG 3345 week 7- Trending

Image
For this week's blog, we will be focusing on trending. Utilizing the trends tool can make it easier to visualize trends in your Google Analytics data. I will be observing the CASA Google Analytics account from October 1, 2018 to October 1, 2019 to see what the trend was during those 12 months. While it would be ideal for the traffic to be gradually increasing each month, I think there will be moments of decrease.  As you can see from the data above, CASA's website traffic decreases and increases several times within the 12 months. It is obvious that their traffic is fluctuating so analyzing trends can help CASA make the necessary changes moving forward. This may include working on various marketing campaigns to increase traffic and create a more positive, consistent trend. Overall, trending is a great tool to use to get a better understanding of what to expect in the future. With positive trends, website's can feel confident in their strategies as an increase in ne...
